It's a story for children, you aren't suppose to look at it too closely. It's actually a metaphor for not trusting strangers.

Everything turns alright in the end, though. Because a woodsman comes along and cuts the wolf open, rescuing Red Ridding Hood and her grandmother. They then put stones in his stomach and sew him back up so that when he wakes up to take drink out of the nearby stream he falls in and drowns.

Again, you're not suppose to take it too seriously.

That's a pretty sadistic and drawn-out way of killing someone. Where is the efficiency? How are any of the children in this world normal after reading that? Honestly..!

I don't know. I think as children when we here those stories we don't really realize the brutality of our stories until we are older and see violence first hand.

My issues lie more with the absurdity of it all. Although, I do think the metaphor is pretty important.
