[he reaches to open the door to the tavern to let them both in] ...captain of the 12th Unit in the Southern Frontier Defense Force.

[ Low whistle as he slides into the tavern, nodding his thanks. Because even though he isn't familiar with what that is, it sounds mighty impressive! ]

Well in that case, I'm preeetty much the right-hand man to Lady Kika, Captain of the Grishend!

[oh Hervey. Not that he knows who that is, but eh, he's not keeping score]

That's your crew, then. I see. Is this Lady Kika around here as well?

[Bartender, two big tall tankards of ale!]

[ It's his lucky day! He takes a seat - now his usual seat - by the bar. ]

Unfortunately not, which is prooobably for the best. Heh.

[ Hervey pauses though, looking mildly surprised. ]

Never heard of the Grishend, huh?

No, but then again, I don't keep up with ships. The sea and I are generally not on friendly terms.

[He drops his pack at his feet and leans on the bar beside Hervey to relax a bit]

[ He seems incredibly amused at the prospect, though with all this land around here... ]

[ He laughs, perhaps a little bitterly. But then he's certain that if they were in the Islands this conversation would be going differently. ]

[ He waves his hand to fill in the words, because that was a long name. ]

No, I'm not here for the guild or anything. I'm between missions with the Defense Force and felt a need to get some fresh grasslands air.

I see. So you're taking a sort of holiday from your unit? I mean, I'm assuming being a captain you've got a crew of your own.

Of a sort. The 12th is a small group of five subordinates, under me. When there isn't work enough to go around for the entire defense force, we're free to pursue our own interests until we get called back.

That is one convenient-sounding lifestyle. Heck, I know I wanna' launch myself off the ship sometimes when we're sailing for weeks at a time.

More like, the Harmonian regional army doesn't want a bunch of mercenaries hanging around Caleria drinking up all the booze.
