EVENT: Summer Days

It has been a hot summer for Budehuc this year, and yet there is little to no signs about it coming to an end, even if the next season is expected to show around sometime in the near future.

The warmth of the sun seems to be inviting just about anyone to the lakeside, including the builders and locals from the neighbouring towns of Iksay and Nor. Some have come for the serenity and beautiful scenery, while others just want to have a swim or enjoy some water games. Keep your eyes out for flying beach balls and frisbees!

[Hugo is dressed for the weather in a pair of orange swimming shorts with yellow suns on them, but he doesn't dare go near the water. He's afraid he'll cause the whole lake to boil]

Greetings, Hugo. I didn't realize you would be here, too.

[Gives he a small smile]

Figured a dip would be nice. But it looks like everyone else had the same idea. So I'm just enjoying the sun.

[ She already figures it's because of his rune, but that subject is the last thing she wants to talk about while on her break. It would do Hugo some good to take his mind off it, too... ]

The Karayan Clan are normally found bathing by the riverside instead of lakes and oceans, right? Do you know how to swim?

[flamesandfeathers]

Huh? Yeah, 'course I do.

You don't expect me to have a teacher like Sgt. Joe and not know how to swim, right?

Rivers can get pretty deep, and sometimes you have to swim across to get to better hunting grounds if you don't have time for a boat.

It sounds like he taught you about more than just how to fight.

I always wondered about that... how did Sgt. Joe end up as your mentor instead of someone else from your village?

They met on the battle field in... 465 I think, I remember. After a battle a battle against Zexen forces. It was a bad battle for us, and Jordi had to make some tough, personal choices.

He and mom made a lot of similar choices, and they clicked because of that, so he chose to go back with her and our clan to focus on being a warrior.

[esteems]

Tragic battles tend to invoke a new sense of resolve. Perhaps he found in you something that he had lost before.

465, you say? I enrolled soon after that...

Yup, I remember because him moving in with us are some of my earliest memories. I was being a brat and saying I wanted a dad, but the Sergeant straightened me out.

[esteems]

You were young and you wanted to know more about your father, I can hardly blame you. Would you have been happy with any father, or just your own?

[flamesandfeathers]

You know, I'm not sure. Mine was long dead before I was born, and it wasn't until I was older that mom told me much about him. Jordi and Jimba- Wyatt were the closet things to father figures I had, and I was happy with them, though Jimba was always more of a brother. So I guess any father.

Still, I would to have liked to known mine. Mom said he was a good man.

[esteems]

Like a brother? [ She laughs a little. She couldn't imagine Wyatt acting brotherly, he always seemed like a father figure even from Yun's point of view. ] You know, if I had to, I would much rather think of you and I as step siblings than uncle and niece.

[flamesandfeathers]

In way we are, aren't we? He had a hand in how we grew up.

[Gives her a grin and looks out over the lake, where all the people are swimming and having a good time]

You know, I talked to Luc the other day. He really is as Caesar said, a kid. I think he's younger than me.

[esteems]

You don't say... Have you taken a liking to him?

[flamesandfeathers]

No.

He's rude, but he's also intelligent and curious. Maybe too smart, you know? I think mostly I feel sorry for him.

[esteems]

Perhaps it is your turn to mentor a "brat" and turn him into a respectable warrior.

[flamesandfeathers]

Maybe. [Makes a face] I suddenly have a lot of empathy for Jordi.
