EVENT: Current State of Affairs

[ Thankfully, both the doors leading into the war room managed to get through the earthquake undamaged and are now shut tight. Behind the doors is a room that's mostly still in shambles, but it's now occupied by a big table borrowed from the tavern next door, as well as enough chairs for everyone in the room to be seated on, if they wish. ]

[Lorelai strides into the room and takes a seat at the table. A small book of notes in front of her and a pen to write more as the meeting goes on]

I know I just arrived here but first things first I'd like to thank you for allowing me to be part of this. For those I haven't met, I'm Lorelai, the worlds foremost expert on the Sindar and envoy of the Queendom of Falena. Now that's out of the way, let's get started.

The Sindar? [ So that's why she's here. This could be helpful indeed. ]

Yes, I came to investigate the ruins in the area but shifted focus after the Karayan's Runs started acting up to tracking down as many legends as I can about the Sindar in an area. [she shoots an annoyed glance around the room] And before anyone asks, yes, I did say legends. They can tell you more about what's inside the ruins than anything and I've found a couple of promising leads.

Then you must be the one Nash is working with?

He's offered to act as a guide and join me, yes.

Yes, it makes sense now. What kind of Sindar legends are you tracking down?

[judgementscythe]

The kind that can tell you hints as to what is inside. In Dunan there was a legend about the greatest treasure that ended up merely being a cure for a deadly fever. Here there are many stories but the one that interested me the most was about a raging inferno that ended just as quickly as it started. Which may mean there is something that can control or quiet the True Runes. It might be all of them, it might be just one, it could be nothing but it's a good starting point

I think you should be looking into the Wind Rune, specifically. It went missing nearby not so long ago. [ Nash is standing with one foot against the wall, but he lifts his hands when he talks. ] According to legend.

Actually. I think Luc has it.

When... When at the end. He showed me a vision of his childhood. I don't think there was a time when he didn't have it.

Wait? Is that what happened in those ruins? You always talk about that with sadness. Did Luc sacrifice himself with his Rune to try to stop this "Masked Bishop" you were talking about?

[Looks around the table at Chris, Geddoe, and Sasarai] Might as well tell you. You'll find out sooner or later.

Luc was the Masked Bishop.

[just gets a shocked expression of her face and sits silently for a second]

I, I have no words. He was a jackass but something like that?

He was trying to use the temple's power to destroy the True Wind Rune. Because of a vision he saw where absolute order happened.

It was a terrible future. One that I hope never happens.

[Sighs and closes his eyes]

Just, don't act any different around the Luc here. He hasn't done anything wrong. Even if he is a brat. That's why I've been avoiding telling you the Masked Bishop's identity.

I kept your problems a secret even though I didn't have to, I think I can keep his. And he used the temples power? Dammit.

[Tears a page out of her notes, crumples it up and throws it away]

[ Nash raises an eyebrow— he actually does know the story of how Luc and Sasarai were "made", since he was with Sasarai when Luc confronted him about it. But he's not going to talk about that, it isn't his secret to give away. He shakes his head. ]

I don't mean the one he has now. I mean the other True Wind Rune.

[ Talking straight past Lorelai, whoops. But if someone's going to tell her what happened at the Ceremonial Site, Hugo was closer to the action. ]

I hadn't thought of that possibility.

Do you have confirmation on the presence of a second True Wind?

No, it's just an idea. But those ruins wouldn't be a bad place to start looking.

Two of the same "god"... yeah, that's bound to create some waves. Even if we find it, we still need to figure out what to do with it. [ Besides destroying it for obvious reasons. ]

2 of the same Rune and one with no bearer to keep it under any type of control? [scribbles notes on her sheet]

I'm guessing this has something to do with the explosion at the one ruin? It would take an immense amount of energy to cause the level of damage people keep describing to me.

Of course, his experiences with people who want to hear that story from someone who was there have been less than delightful.]

what's that look for? Do you know anything you could offer?

You know of the firestorm that ended the First Firebringer War?

I speak of ancient legends. Although if there was something that could help us from the time of the first war I would love to hear it.

Not likely. The reports of True Fire going out of control are true, but there was nothing done to stop it. Nothing we could have done would have affected it.

Damn. I was hoping there was something more recent that we could use. Do you have any idea what caused it to go out of control?
